Praying for our Nation
Recently, I have been stirred afresh on the need for prayer for our countries
2 Chronicles 7:14
‘IF my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.’
As Christians, we cannot forget the position of authority God has given us, and the degree of influence we can have in our nation through prayer. If we fail to take our place, evil forces that seek to destroy our country and any Christian influence, will prevail.
No one can deny that the devil has stepped up his activity in recent years, but we are not to be afraid of this, rather it MUST stir us as Christians to pray with greater commitment than ever before!
God has shown in his Word that the condition of the nation rests with His people. I encourage you to pray for our leaders – whether they represent your political belief or not – they need our prayers in order to operate in the wisdom of God. God can change their political positions if we pray!
This need for prayer goes further: – prayer meetings in churches are often the least supported meetings. Many don’t want to put in the time and commitment needed to pray. I believe that this is one of the major reasons that many churches are not growing. Some start to grow, but the growth gets stifled through problems arising etc.
Only a strong prayer backing within a church can develop the spiritual strength a ministry needs to breakthrough in a nation.
When I say this, I mean strong prayer backing – sometimes a group of people need to arise who will meet and pray DAILY for the church and revival.
I don’t believe that 1 prayer meeting a week is enough to provide the backing that many churches need right now in order to move forward.
If you can, find some prayer partners that will meet with you regularly and pray. If no one wants to join you, begin to set aside regular time to pray – not just for your own life, but for the things I have referred to in this article.
Also, encourage other Christians to do the same – the more this spreads the better. If you can, arrive at church early each Sunday and pray for the church service that week!
I believe that God will honour us if we will obey His call to pray. Our churches will grow stronger. Christian influence within this nation will be strengthened, and our nation will be affected in a godly way! I also believe that God will honour the individuals who pray.
Walk in what You know
Philippians 4:9
‘The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do and the God of peace will be with you’
This scripture shows us that if we want the peace of God to remain with us in life, through whatever circumstances we face, we must continue in the truths that we have learned.
At no time is is OK to let go of the truths that we have received from God’s Word – why?
Because they are our freedom and our victory!
Many times, people get discouraged, thinking, “I have tried to stand on the Word, I’ve sown and given, I’ve prayed and sought the Lord, yet it seems like things are still bad!”
Let me encourage you: God is faithful! He is not about to let His Word fail under you and as you continue in the things that you have learned about faith and the Word, they will work in your life.
Don’t let circumstances, the enemy, cares, worries and concerns steal the Word out of your life.
They come to wear us out and to tempt us to abandon the truth we have learned, but as you hold fast to those truths, and don’t let go, you will see the victory, and God will bring His Word to pass in your life.
Your answer is in the truths that you have learned in the Word. So often we think, “Well those truths don’t seem to be working, maybe I need to find something else to try!” Again, no! Hold fast to the truths that you have learned and received – they will cause you to rise up to victory, enabling you to triumph in life over circumstances.
Faith in God works – every time that it is put to work!
