Mark 9:23 - all things are possible to him who believes. This article looks at this truth and shows how we can develop faith for the impossible

God has called this ministry to teach the biblical truths of faith

More than anything else, stirring people to believe God continues to be at the forefront of what we preach.

One scripture which has stood out to me for a long time on this subject is Mark 9:23

Mark 9:23

:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

Jesus Himself states that ‘…all things are possible to him who believes.’

This is quite a scripture!

Think about it: ALL things!! In other words – there are NO IMPOSSIBILITIES to faith!

That truth is still foreign to most – we have not really grasped what Jesus is trying to show us. As a result, we continue to place limitations on God and what He wants to do in our lives.

Think about it: this scripture is as true as any other!

Do we have ANY reason to think that its truths are any less powerful than other passages in God’s Word? No! Jesus said it, and He meant it.

There is a realm available to the believer, I call it the realm of ‘no impossibilities’. Faith for the impossible.

God desires to do more for his people. Just like in Mark 6 – Jesus wanted to do more for the people in His own hometown, but could not, because they restricted him, so today, people continue to restrict God by limited thinking.

God moves in our lives to the level of our faith.

If we desire to see and experience more, then we must expand our vision, take off the limitations in our minds and feed our faith on the Word of God. Faith is built on the Word of God – as we spend time there, we see the possibilities of what God can and wants to do for us!

Often, our faith is on one level and God wants us to step up to a higher level of faith. I believe that if you search your heart, you will find that God is prompting you inside to believe him for things – however, in order to do so, you will have to expand your vision and think bigger.

He wants to move more in your life, He desires to move you to a higher level of faith.

Search your heart and the Word of God for those things he has prompted you about in the past, but you have backed down from because they just seem ‘too big’. I believe that God put those things in your heart. His vision for your life is bigger than yours.

Don’t settle for less than what God has for you – If He put it in your heart, then He has it for you!

God doesn’t think small, He doesn’t make small plans.

In order to reach His plans though, we MUST continually expose ourselves to HIS vision for us. Train yourself to see things how He does, by feeding on what He has said in his Word!

I encourage you to stir up God’s vision for your life. Take off the limitations and believe Him for more. Believe that all things are possible. You CAN live and walk in the dream and vision that God has given you.

Remember that ALL things are possible to him who beleives. You can have 'no impossibility faith'

According to Philippians 4:19, My God shall supply all my needs.

Philippians 4:19

:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to HIS RICHES in glory by Christ Jesus

Let’s break this down and examine the powerful principles revealed in this verse:

A) My God shall supply

We are not dependant upon the world to supply our needs. Even if they enter recession, we don’t have to follow.

Our God is our source of supply. He is El Shaddai – The God who is Mighty to nourish, supply and satisfy.

Your job is not your source, even though it is right to work. Your spouse, parents, the government are not your source. God is! And His economy is always stable.

We access His economy by faith. So don’t allow fear about what is happening in the world govern you. Meditate in God’s promises of provision and speak His Word over your finances. He has promised to supply. So believe His Word.

B) All your need

God is not limited to where you live in the world, and the size of your need. He has committed Himself to supply ALL you needs. Don’t limit Him, but believe Him for a total breakthrough.

If you have a need, beleive that God is the supplier to bring the provision for the need.

C) According to HIS riches

We live by His riches, and let me assure you: He is RICH. Wealthy beyond imagination. He
doesn’t supply according to your need. He is Not limited to your bank balance. He committed Himself to supply for you from His riches.

This truth will free you.

Deuteronomy 28:12 says that God will open HIS STOREHOUSES (His good treasure) to you!

There is NO lack in His storehouses. They are vast, and as a Christian, you have the right to use His storehouses. But Faith is the key. You receive From God By faith. So let me encourage you to feed your faith on His promises of Prosperity.

Get His Word on your Mouth, then obey His directions, and He will faithfully fulfil His promises.

May these truths stir your heart as they have mine. Don’t delay in acting.

If you are uncertain of God’s will for your finances, then search His Word out for the truth. Once you know what He has promised, then don’t hold back and don’t let the devil steal from you anymore.Increase your vision and expectancy by feeding your faith on the Word and move forward with God, receiving all that He has for you!

Recently, I have been stirred afresh on the need for prayer for our countries

2 Chronicles 7:14

‘IF my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.’

As Christians, we cannot forget the position of authority God has given us, and the degree of influence we can have in our nation through prayer. If we fail to take our place, evil forces that seek to destroy our country and any Christian influence, will prevail.

No one can deny that the devil has stepped up his activity in recent years, but we are not to be afraid of this, rather it MUST stir us as Christians to pray with greater commitment than ever before!

God has shown in his Word that the condition of the nation rests with His people. I encourage you to pray for our leaders – whether they represent your political belief or not – they need our prayers in order to operate in the wisdom of God. God can change their political positions if we pray!

This need for prayer goes further: – prayer meetings in churches are often the least supported meetings. Many don’t want to put in the time and commitment needed to pray. I believe that this is one of the major reasons that many churches are not growing. Some start to grow, but the growth gets stifled through problems arising etc.

Only a strong prayer backing within a church can develop the spiritual strength a ministry needs to breakthrough in a nation.

When I say this, I mean strong prayer backing – sometimes a group of people need to arise who will meet and pray DAILY for the church and revival.

I don’t believe that 1 prayer meeting a week is enough to provide the backing that many churches need right now in order to move forward.

I want to call you all to prayer – for your nation, leaders and the churches.

If you can, find some prayer partners that will meet with you regularly and pray. If no one wants to join you, begin to set aside regular time to pray – not just for your own life, but for the things I have referred to in this article.

Also, encourage other Christians to do the same – the more this spreads the better. If you can, arrive at church early each Sunday and pray for the church service that week!

I believe that God will honour us if we will obey His call to pray. Our churches will grow stronger. Christian influence within this nation will be strengthened, and our nation will be affected in a godly way! I also believe that God will honour the individuals who pray.

Philippians 4:9

‘The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do and the God of peace will be with you’

This scripture shows us that if we want the peace of God to remain with us in life, through whatever circumstances we face, we must continue in the truths that we have learned.

At no time is is OK to let go of the truths that we have received from God’s Word – why?

Because they are our freedom and our victory!

Many times, people get discouraged, thinking, “I have tried to stand on the Word, I’ve sown and given, I’ve prayed and sought the Lord, yet it seems like things are still bad!”

Let me encourage you: God is faithful! He is not about to let His Word fail under you and as you continue in the things that you have learned about faith and the Word, they will work in your life.

Don’t let circumstances, the enemy, cares, worries and concerns steal the Word out of your life.

They come to wear us out and to tempt us to abandon the truth we have learned, but as you hold fast to those truths, and don’t let go, you will see the victory, and God will bring His Word to pass in your life.

Your answer is in the truths that you have learned in the Word. So often we think, “Well those truths don’t seem to be working, maybe I need to find something else to try!” Again, no! Hold fast to the truths that you have learned and received – they will cause you to rise up to victory, enabling you to triumph in life over circumstances.

Faith in God works – every time that it is put to work!

When it comes to receiving healing or getting answers to prayer, many people have the mentality of 'waiting for God' to do it

They pray, ask God for healing, then sit back and take a position of 'waiting'. They say things like, 'I am waiting for God to heal me'. They even claim this is a stand of faith they are taking, saying, 'I am in faith, believing God, now I am just waiting for God to do it'

What people don't realise is that this is NOT the Bible position of faith we are supposed to be in!

Bible faith is not passively sitting 'waiting for God to do it'.

Bible Faith receives

This mentality has 'crept in' to the church, even Word churches, but is not a Bible teaching. It is actually hindering many people from receiving healing from God. as well as many other answers to prayer

When it comes to receiving salvation, do we teach people to come to the altar, pray the 'sinners pray' to receive Jesus, then tell them, 'Now you are just waiting for God to save you, keep coming to church, you have prayed the prayer of faith, now we are all going to stand with you and trust God to save you'.

NO, that is not how we handle salvation.

The prayer of faith for salvation is a 'receiving prayer', not a waiting prayer

Once a person prays it, we tell them 'they ARE saved'.
We tell people we HAVE received Jesus, not that we are 'waiting to recieve' or believing to receive' Jesus

From the moment they prayed the prayer of salvation we teach them to have the attitude they 'have recieved Jesus'
There is no 'waiting to receive' involved.

However, when it comes to receiving anything else from God by faith, we change the rules (the Bible does not), and suddenly go from an attitude of 'I have received' to an attitude of 'I am waiting to receive'

In this powerful audio series, we examine this mentality from the Bible, looking at the attitude the Bible teaches we are supposed to have when we pray for anything, including physical healing. These teaching show that the 'waiting' attitude is not Biblical, and help us to see things from a Bible perspective.

As you study this series, you will see clearly how to go from 'asking God' for something to the point of 'receiving it' and walking in the full manifestation of it. We use healing as an example, showing how to receive healing from God, and to stop waiting for it!

Faith does not focus on what it is going THROUGH, faith focuses on what it is going TO

Like Peter walking on the water – he should have kept his focus on Jesus – instead of looking around at the wind and the waves. When we look at what we are going through, we can start to sink! when we keep our focus on the Word, the Promises and what God has said, we keep ourselves on track to reach the goal.

Many do not realise how much their FOCUS (what they are looking at / focusing on) has to do with faith and receiving the victory in any situation. It is vital that everytime we are tempted to look at what is going on around us, that we realign our focus back onto what the Word says

Once again:

Faith does not focus on what it is going THROUGH, faith focuses on what it is going TO

As we studying healing in the Gospels, we soon notice that Jesus mentioned fiath to some people and said nothing about it to others. How can we today know when faith is needed for healing and when it is not?

When we look at the healing ministry of Jesus in the Gospels, we will soon notice that in some of the accounts of people being healed, Jesus mentioned the person's faith as being involved, while in other accounts, no mention of faith is made at all.

This has caused confusion in the church, as some teach we need faith to receive healing from God while others strongly oppose this, claiming we do not.

In the previous post we mentioned a new mp3 teaching I have put on our website that studies this issue in depth, helping us to fully understand when faith is REQUIRED for healing and when it is not.

To add to this teaching, I have now uploaded a page to our wesbite which lists the healings in Jesus' ministry by category of 'who initiated the healing' – In other words, who made the initial approach, was it Jesus going to the sick person, or the sick person coming to Jesus.

This simple division between the various healings in the gospels shows a very interesting pattern, as you will notice.

The healings that Jesus initiated – going to the sick person -do not reference faith, while those that were initiated by the sick person going to Jesus do.

By studying healing in the Gospels from a point of view of 'who initiated the healing' we can see a very interesting pattern which helps us see when faith is required for healing and when it is not

I encourage you to listen to the accompanying MP3s which look into the doctrine behind this.

Who initiated the healing?

If you spend time reading the Gospels in the Bible, you will notice that sometimes when people were healed in Jesus' ministry, He commented on their faith. At other times faith was not present, or referred to in the account.

This has sparked debate in the church about whether faith is necessary in receiving healing or not.

Some choose to go with the scriptures where faith was NOT an issue in the healing and they use these scriptures to try to 'disprove' that faith is a necessary factor in healing. Others hold strongly to the scriptures where faith IS pointed out as the determining factor in the person receiving healing.

The problem is the Bible shows both, and we are not supposed to be picking and choosing the bits of the Bible we want to listen to, or the bits that 'prove' our doctrine. Nor are we supposed to be setting one scripture against another, trying to prove that because we can find a scripture which says 'one thing' we can 'write off' a scripture which someone else uses to show another thing!

That is NOT how we are to approach interpretting the Bible, but it often happens like that.

There have been times when I have been trying to help a person receive healing and I point out a particular scripture which shows faith as a factor in receiving healing, and the next thing, they jump quickly in to point out a scripture which they feel contradicts the one I have used, where the person received and faith is not mentioned

To be honest, we should be looking at how all of these passages fit together and endeavouring to understand why the Bible shows the 2 different sides, how they work together in the over all healing ministry, and how to know which applies in specific situations.

I have just uploaded 2 MP3s onto our website which look at this issue and I believe clearly show how to understand the Bible on this issue. The Bible shows a very specific factor that determines which approach to healing is needed in a particular situation and should solve the questions people have about whether they really do need faith or not to receive.

These 2 MP3's are actually only 1 teaching session split over 2 MP3's, so it will only take you an hour to go through them and find the Bible answers to this issue.

The MP3's can be found here:

God is the God who can turn any situation around

Jeremiah 32:17

:17 'Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

I love that: There is nothing too hard for God! He is limitless in power and ability, there is nothing he cannot do. Things that look impossible to us, are nothing before Him. There is no sickness too great, and no problem to overwhelming that my God cannot overcome. He IS The Almighty God.

When we study the Gospel accounts of healing, one of the things that really stands out to me is how many of these people faced desperate situations. They were right at the end of all hope when they came to Jesus and they walked away free!

The Woman with issue of blood:

Mark 5:25,26

:25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,
:26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.

The Nobleman’s son was ‘at the point of death…’

John 4:47

:47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

Peter’s wife’s mother had a ‘great / high fever’ – Luke 4:38

There was the Paralytic man borne by four who could not walk by himself, The Lepers who were outcasts of society, the blind, the deaf and mute.

The Centurion’s servant was ‘sick and ready to die..’

Luke 7:2

:2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.

Jairus’ daughter was ‘…at the point of death…’ and in fact died before Jesus arrived to her, He had to raise her from the dead!

Mark 5:22-23, 34-35

:22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet
:23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, "My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live."

:35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue's house who said, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?"
:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only believe."

At was probably the darkest hour of this man’s life - when he received the news of the death of his daughter - Jesus encourages him to believe, not be afraid!

Only someone who knows that this is not over could encourage like that. Most would simply sympathize with his loss, and try to comfort him, but Jesus knew it was not over, faith had already been released when the man declared in verse 23, ‘come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed…’ and Jesus was already on the task. Jesus encouraged this man not to give up, but to stay in faith and see this through to God’s victorious outcome. It is never too late for God.

The Syrophoenician woman’s daughter was ‘…severely demon possessed…‘

Matthew 15:22

:22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed."

There were those who had been in their condition for many, many years and no one had been able to help them.

Woman with the Issue of Blood – Mark 5:25 12 years

Woman with spirit of infirmity – Luke 13:11 18 years

Man borne blind – John 9:1 30+ years

Man at the Pool – John 3:5 38 years

Cripple at the gate Beautiful – Acts 3:2, 4:22 40 years

When they came into contact with Jesus, they were set free! God turned it around for them and God can turn it around for you

What can we learn from this?

That there is nothing that is past God being able to help. Nothing has gone ‘too far’.

When Lazarus was dead and in his tomb, Jesus came on the scene and said, ‘Take away the stone’ (John 11:39)

‘I am no through here yet!’ is what He was declaring!

Often when we face challenges, we roll the stone of hopelessness and despair in front of the situation and give up all hope that it can change, but Jesus is saying to us, ‘Move that stone out the way, I can still do something’!

We are not to give up hope, we are not to think there is nothing that can be done, God is the God who can change anything and turn any situation around, even when doctors have given up all hope and say there is nothing that they can do, Jesus is The Great Physician who CAN do!

He can do what is needed, He can do what is necessary. When we put our faith In Him, He can turn it around.

There is however one vital lesson we can learn in this area from the ministry of Jesus, and that is:

When the challenges come, and we get desperate, it is not our desperation that moves God to move for us, it is our faith. The people who came to Jesus in desperation had to be redirected into faith before He could help them.

The Nobleman’s Son (John 4:46-54) was focused on the challenge, Jesus talks to him about believing, and redirects his attention, so that he goes away focused on faith in Jesus Words, not his crisis.

The Father of the Epileptic boy in Mark 9:20 – 27 cried out to Jesus in desperation, and the boy even has an epileptic fit right in front of Jesus, but Jesus is not moved by the chaos, he turns to the Father and begins to coach him in believing. Redirecting his desperation into faith before helping him.

Desperate circumstances make us cry out in desperation, but faith in God is what causes Him to move in the most impossible circumstances. The world is full of desperate people whose circumstances are not changing, but the Bible tells us that faith is the victory that overcomes the world and all things are possible to him who believes. Faith is the key to bringing change to desperate circumstances, allowin God's power to move in those circumstances

:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

1 John 5:4

:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.

No matter what you are facing, put your faith and confidence in the God who can turn it around.

Nothing is too hard or impossible for him. He can and will turn your situation around and bring you out on top, giving you the victory
